New Moon in Capricorn December 2022

ASTROLOGYBOX Posted on December 18, 2022 by JanetteDecember 18, 2022

The last new moon of 2022 marks a turning point in the 3 year process we have been experiencing since January 2020, when Saturn was conjunct Pluto in Capricorn followed by Saturn squaring Uranus.  The last 3 years would have been unimaginable prior to 2020; a global pandemic, lockdowns, high levels of control on the public, limitation to freedoms and movement, constraints, volatile financial markets and governments, war in Ukraine and abuse of power by governments.  Unsustainable systems and structures lacking integrity are collapsing.

These aspects are now loosening and their influence is waning. The Capricorn new moon on 23rd December marks a turning of the season, not just the annual season but also something longer term.  The Solstice, a power point of the year, is the day before. The new moon is one of a series of five, all at 1 degree of their sign, indicating fresh energy and a new start.  This moon is a Supermoon, intensifying its energy as the moon is closer to the earth. The majority of planets are moving direct, with Mars and Uranus to follow in January. These are all hallmarks of a turning point and forward momentum. Pluto sojourning in Aquarius in March next year marks a clear shift away from the tensions of the last 3 years.

The influence of Jupiter at 0 deg Aries, the first degree of the zodiac, brings expansion, optimism, hope, faith and personal growth.  It heralds a new direction and fresh opportunities.

Five planets in Capricorn – Pluto, Sun Moon Venus and Mercury – assist with building firm foundations for a fairer more sustainable future, away from imposed centralised control and towards community led structures and systems.. On a personal level we can release and heal the trials and tribulations of the past 3 years and build on the hard work and lessons learnt, assisted by Chiron’s influence which is magnified by being stationary.

At this new moon set intentions for what you want to build and manifest, not only for 2023 but for the next stage of your evolution.

The Great Mutation

ASTROLOGYBOX Posted on December 1, 2020 by JanetteDecember 19, 2020

Every 20 years the two social planets, Jupiter and Saturn, which symbolise the structures of our society, come together in the sky in what is known as a conjunction.  This “Great Conjunction” has recently coincided with the transition between decades i.e. coming together in 2000, opposing in 2010, coming together in 2020 and so on.  This cycle represents endings and beginnings as old structures disintegrate and new forms begin to take shape in society. In this exceptional year of 2020 the Great Conjunction takes on an extraordinary significance.  Typically the Great Conjunctions occur in zodiac signs of the same element … Continue reading →

Summer Solstice

ASTROLOGYBOX Posted on December 18, 2016 by JanetteDecember 18, 2016

As we approach Christmas, in the Southern Hemisphere we will also be approaching the summer solstice which marks the longest day and the shortest night of the calendar year. The term solstice comes from the Latin “sol” meaning the sun and “sistere” meaning to stand.  At the solstice the Sun does seem to stand still for about 3 days as it reaches its furthest point from the celestial equator in its apparent journey around the earth. The ancients honoured the Sun as a life giving force.  With the Sun being at its maximum power and impact, the solstice was celebrated … Continue reading →
